Telecom Vacancy: Transmission Engineer :: Africa

Location: Sub Saharan Africa

Start Date: ASAP

End Date: Oct 2011

Responsibilities:

•Fully accountable for the satisfactory situation, maintenance and operation of all Transmission systems, other than central facilities, in assigned geographic area

•Monitoring and supervising of the appropriate completion of work assigned to outsourced parties

•Primarily responsible for the maintenance, routine and preemptive/ preventative, of the Transmission network, from a telecoms perspective, changing boards and adjusting systems as needed and with appropriate support from internal, outsourced and external expertise

•On the instructions of the Field Operations Manager, taking equipment out of service for maintenance, removal or other work

•Providing full maintenance support to DDF Mainframe

•Performing antenna tests

•Investigating queries issued by the NOC

•Support for Planning and Quality and Project Office work

•Support for investigation of queries issued by NOC, including those derived from customer queries

•Support for performance of antenna tests

•Interaction with the Risk Manager with regard to site and equipment security

•Supervision of Outsourced Contractors during installation of new nodes in the network

•Liaising with NOC, Network Planning and quality and Project Office

•Should be in Position to work and reside in a Duty location countrywide

Requirements:

•University degree in Engineering, Telecommunication, Computer Science, or equivalent experience in the technical

•Knowledge of NEC transmission Equipment, Ericsson RBS, Mini Link E, and MINI LINK HC shall be of strong added advantage

•Working Experience in Telecommunication Industry preferably GSM 900 and 1800

•Must demonstrate thorough understanding of radio propagation

•Strong understanding of end to end performance requirements in a 2G and 3G Network including Access, Transmission and Core domains

•Excellent Technical Skills per technology deployed: NEC Transmission equipments (PDH/SDH)

•Excellent communication skills

•Very high customer focus

•Team work
