Telecom Vacancy for Datacenter Engineer :: Europe

Location: Europe 
Start Date: ASAP 
End Date: 3 months (extendable)



Must be eligible to work in Europe 


Responsibilities: 
• Hands on technically demanding role, that requires a thorough understanding of circuit and packet switched platforms, IP networks, and SDH fundamentals 
• The primary objective is to work as part of a team that is running the day to day operation of a complex Datacentre environment, focussing on the completion of all essential operational tasks and other duties assigned by senior staff members 
• Monitor group PR queue and ensure all faults are fixed in SLA and routine tasks are completed in line with Datacentre Processes and Procedures 
• Complete impact analysis for all OCR's requested within their Local Datacentre and Approve/Reject the OCR's accordingly 
• Ensure all work activities carried out on site comply with current operating procedures 
• To provide hands on support for Operational change requests and take owner ship locally for their implementation 
• Take ownership of the Day to Day PR's ensuring all PR's are updated regularly 
• To work out of hours to support reactive and planned work requests, which will require working from other Datacentres / Testbed / Equipment Rooms 
• Verify Technical Procedures 
• Represent Operations during pre-installation site surveys and as Clerk of Works during installations 
• Share knowledge and experience with other members of the Team 
• Observe and maintain safe Health and Safety working practices at all times 



Requirements:
• Minimum of 2 years experience within a Datacentre Operations Environment of a mobile telecommunications service provider 
• Good understanding of 3G networks, Datacomms and IT networks 
• Good Understanding of 3G Datacentre based Technology to include RAN, Core, IT Operations, Storage, I/P and Transmission 
• Thorough understanding of Datacentre Operations Processes and Procedures
• A good understanding of IT/Telecoms cabling (copper & fibre) & installation standards 
• Familiarity of MML on NSN and Ericsson Platforms and Cisco IOS and CATOS 
• Physically able to rack and stack server and similar equipment 
• Installation of racks, including cutting floor tiles, levelling and earthing etc 
• Prioritise the six behaviours which you feel most closely match the role 
• Good all round communications skills 
• Excellent team player with ability to work unsupervised 
• Must be Target Driven and have tenacity to get the job done 
• Willing to take ownership and be accountable and have ability to work under pressure 
• Customer focused 
• Ability to solve problems in a logical step by step process, whilst balancing the demands of priorities 
• HNC or Equivalent 
• The role is multisite, therefore requires a full valid UK driving licence and suitably insured vehicle
