The six Gulf countries are trying to find ways to bring down charges for roaming call services on mobile phones.
Mobile roaming charges and video-calling are among a number of topics that are expected to be discussed at a closed-door meeting of ministers from across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) which began in the UAE capital Monday.
Participating in the meeting are the secretaries of the Ministerial Committee for Mail, Telecommunications and Information Technology of GCC countries, who will also discuss a law to regulate the work and activities of private mail, cargo and courier service companies in preparation for the next World Mail Summit to be held in Qatar.
The issues discussed in the meeting will be raised later Wednesday in the form of recommendations to the GCC ministers overseeing the telecom industry in their respective countries.
