Telecom Vacancy: IP Operations Oncall Engineer :: Europe

Location: Europe 
Start Date: ASAP 
End Date: 6 months (extendable)



Must be eligible to work in Europe


Responsibilities: 
• Back office operational support for Managed Service customer Mobile network IP infrastructure 
• Out of hours support cover as part of a 1 week in 4 24x7 on-call rota 
• Operational control and maintenance of IP equipment supporting key end customer services including Mobile Broadband, Billing, Provisioning, CRM, Retail, Content Delivery, Mobile Packet Core, Contact Centre and Production / Corporate data networks 
• Maintain high levels of service continuity on IP devices for both internal and external customers 
• Manage Cisco, Juniper and Redback hardware to ensure the highest service levels are maintained for a converged network carrying data, voice and mobile signalling traffic 
• Integrate new IP services and infrastructure to support the evolution of mobile network services in a highly adaptable and cost effective manner 
• To provide 3rd level technical support for Cisco, Juniper and Redback IP devices on an daily and on-call basis within a team. Hardware includes Cisco GSR12000, 7600,7200,6500, 4500, ACE, CSM, Juniper MX960, MX480, Redback SE800 
• To troubleshoot logged faults in order to accurately isolate the cause and provide working solutions, to liaise with vendors where necessary in order to resolve vendor related issues and monitor progress against customer SLAs 
• Support the implementation of new IP equipment, and the ongoing maintenance and configuration of existing systems 
• Support project deliveries from engineering reviewing design documentation and implementing solution and carrying out configuration changes to live systems



Requirements:
• 5yrs plus experience in configuration and troubleshooting Cisco hardware Routers and Switches in a LAN & WAN environment
• Familiarity and hands-on experience with the Cisco IOS /CATOS on high end GSR,OSR, VXR routers and switch platforms supporting routing/switching technologies including, MPLS, QoS, VOIP, IS-IS, OSPF, BGP
• Understanding of associated TCP/IP technologies such as SMTP, DNS, SNMP, DHCP, NTP 
• Experience with remote management applications e.g. CiscoWorks & HP-Openview, NNM as well as trouble ticketing systems
• Experience in VOIP, Content Networking, Juniper and Redback
• Understanding of 3G technologies including RAN and Mobile Packet Core 
• High level of self motivation 
• Excellent communication skills
• Flexibility in approach to work
• Willingness to learn new technologies
• Openness to new ideas and concepts
• Organized approach to fault finding and ability to take responsibility
• Relevant telecommunications and / or Cisco qualification CCNP/CCIP 
• Cisco qualification CCIE or CCDP 
• Educated to degree level
