Responsibilities:
• Working within the wider IP Design Strategy, to capture the specifics for the evolving IP Routing, Switching and Security Strategy and Policy and to appropriately influence and guide the network evolution
• Understand customer requirements and implement solutions meeting those requirements, communicating consequences on costs and timescales, and delivering cost-effective, elegant designs into Operations
• Work with vendors to ensure that equipment deployed in customer networks’ is fit for purpose
• Maintain an awareness of market trends and vendor roadmaps
• Accountable for design and implementation of IP Routing, Switching and Security solutions to fulfil the requirements of particular customer or a particular domain
• Required to write or review & approve Strategy and Policy Documents, Statement of Requirements, Impact Assessments, Target Architecture, High Level Design, Detailed Design, Implementation plan, and Transition To Operations documents
• Devise and produce / manage the production of capacity reports required to fulfil capacity reporting obligations to the customer
• Analyse and appropriately feedback on impacts to the IP infrastructure of the customer’s issued Service Demand Forecasts (and interim product launches / ad hoc traffic events)
• Describe business benefits and risks of proposed solutions
• Provide solution overview, training, and suggested troubleshooting and preventative maintenance guides to peers in Operations
• Provide 4th line support to Operations as required
Requirements:
• Extensive IP & Security Design experience
• Firewalls, Policy-based-security and Wider security tools
• OSPF, QOS, NAT, VoIP, IP routing and switching
• MP-BGP, RIPv2, MPLS, network management platforms, SNMP, load balancing
• Experience in IP addressing on a multiple site/size basis
• Cisco Router: 6500, 7200 VXRs, 3600, 2600 & 837
• Cisco catalyst switches platforms: 4000, 3500 and 2900,
• Cisco Content Services Switch (CSS) / Content Switching Module (CSM)
• And/or other vendor’s equivalent devices
• Nokia PIX, ASA Firewalls
• Checkpoint firewalls
• Cisco Security Manager (CSM), Cisco Security Monitoring & Reporting System (CS-MARS)
• Experience of multiple vendor equipments: Cisco, Juniper, Redback, Radware, Nokia, etc
• A positive and cooperative member of a design team and capable of working autonomously
• A persistent and thorough approach, be able to contribute to debates about new ideas
• Able to understand customer's requirements and suggest solutions consistent with key business drivers of operability, OPEX reduction, scalability
• Able to be an evangelist throughout the organisation for carrier-grade, mission critical, next generation, IP networks
• CCIE or CCIE (or equivalent), CCSP, Check Point Certified Security Expert/Administrator, CISSP, ISSA, PCI-DSS, ISP or Telco experience
