Telecom Job for Tekelec STP Expert / Senior SS7 Engineer – Plano, TX (USA)

Need a senior level operations talent that can run a Tekelec STP. Need operations folks who have an operator background running Tekelec STP’s. 


Position Summary: 
This position exists to provide operational support of SS7 signaling and STP nodes in the MetroPCS national signaling network. The person in this role will also be responsible for STP translations as well as monitoring the capacity and health of the signaling network.


Principal Accountabilities: 
• Provide expert-level maintenance and technical support for STP software and peripheral systems within the SS7 network infrastructure 
• Engineer translations to support complex routing: screening, cluster routing, MTP routing, and GTT routing in the signaling network 
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and drive resolution to faults in the SS7 network 
• Performs reason for outage (RFO) analysis on major outages 
• Monitor, trend, and perform growth engineering on STP hardware as well as SS7 links to multiples nodes in the network 
• Create and maintain detailed documentation and network diagrams of the SS7 network 
• Work with other internal teams to evaluate the impact of new products and services on the SS7 network


Skills Required: 
• Strong communications skills 
• Ability to work in a diverse and fast-paced environment 
• Experience in network monitoring and troubleshooting 
• Thorough understanding of wireless telecommunications technologies and concepts 
• Familiarity with data communication technologies and concepts 
• Ability to write, read, and analyze technical documents and network diagrams 
• Must be highly organized


Education/Experience: 
• BS Degree in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent knowledge 
• 2 – 5 years of Wireless Network Operations experience with STPs and HLRs 
• High level of knowledge with SS7, ISUP, LNP, ANSI-41, and TCP/IP protocols 
• Knowledge of SS7 over IP protocols: SIGTRAN: M3UA, M2PA, SUA, SCTP 
• Knowledge of transmission equipment and standards: DS0, DS1, DS3, Ethernet, and Optical 
• Experience with SS7 protocol analyzers such as IAS or AcceSS7 is preferred
