Nokia Siemens Networks is to all set to begin LTE equipment manufacturing facility in Russia, in cooperation with Russian manufacturers, Rusnano, Micran and the Tomsk Oblast Administration. The hardware will be produced in the Tomsk Special Economic Zone.
The four parties signed the document prior to a conference in Tomsk led by Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.
According to Executive Board Chairman Anatoly Chubais, this project demonstrates how rapidly the high-technology sector is gaining momentum in the country’s economy. For Rusnano, technology transfer to Russia, transfer of knowledge from one of the world’s leading telecommunications companies, makes this project especially interesting. Moreover, it offers Russian manufacturers a chance to become vendors of the latest equipment for 4G telecom networks.
