Experience Required:
•A minimum of 12 years relevant experience in transport network design
•A minimum of 5 years relevant managerial experience
Background: •LCC has a contract with a network operator in Saudi Arabia for the execution of network design activities. To this end, a team of approx 140 consultants is co-located with and works on a daily basis with the operator and equipment vendors to achieve the operators’ objectives. The LCC Transport design director will manage a team of about 25 consultants in the transport area.
•The ideal candidate will come from a Tier 1 or 2 public Telecom network operator where he has been involved with the planning, design and engineering of the transport network in the broadest sense. He has been leading a team of engineers responsible for the IP/MPLS core network and associated DWDM transport network. Preferably he has experience with SDH and DMW networks as well.
Key Responsibilities: •Design and Engineering of:
othe IP/MPLS Core and access network to accommodate the traffic growth as per the marketing forecast and business plan.
othe Long Distance DWDM network to accommodate the traffic growth as per the marketing forecast and business plan.
othe Junction network, a mixture of PtP Ethernet and SDH
oDMW backhaul of mobile base station
oDMW long haul network
•Produce all related detailed design and method of procedure documents for projects in above mentioned networks.
•Prepare the design plans for migration of legacy (TDM) transport to NGN network solutions, e.g. IP backhaul for mobile, NG-SDH, etc
•Set future transport network strategies, transport architecture development and network roadmaps in order to meet the business targets for reducing OPEX and CAPEX and being in line with latest technology development.
•Leverage a strong knowledge of technology trends for the selection of the most cost effective and best practice transport network solutions.
•Solid experience in a multivendor network environment
•Develop transport network BoQs and request for quotations, participate in price and scope negotiations with vendors to finalize the annual project budgets.
•Create and apply necessary processes and procedures to maintain and improve the work efficiency/performance.
•Support implementation activities of transport related projects
•Ability to design and implement IP security concepts
Reporting: •Directly reporting to the LCC Project Director
•Close cooperation (“partnership”) with Transport Design Director of the operator, sharing organizational objectives
Expertise and Skills: •Solid, deep technical understanding of all design and engineering aspects for transport nodes and networks including IP/MPLS core and access, D- and CWDM, SDH, NG-SDH, DMW.
•Experience with Cisco, Huawei, Alcatel-Lucent equipment ranges
•Solid knowledge in TISPAN standard and applying latest releases on architecture design
•Familiar with IPv4 to IPv6 migration
•Ability to manage a multi-national team of engineers in a challenging, culturally diverse environment
•Ability to deal with tight deadlines and multiple concurrent urgent issues
