Telecom Job Vacancy: Transmission Planning Engineer (Ethernet) || UK

Start date: ASAP 
End date: 3-6 months (extendable)


Must be eligible to work in UK

Responsibilities:
• Contribute ideas for improvement and optimisation in all areas of Ethernet delivery 
• Provide input to tool development for planning and tracking purposes throughout the project 
• Plan the national transmission plan to deliver an Ethernet enabled network for the customer 
• Knowledge of microwave and lease line technologies required 
• Ability to follow guidelines and work within these to deliver a quality network 
• Dimension FE and Gb lease line back haul with VLANs, PWE tribs and sync ccts for all required traffic routed via a hub adhering to guidelines 
• Track the progress of LL and MW suppliers to identify the sites that can be migrated to Ethernet end to end technology week on week 
• Maximise the project deliverables and bandwidth opportunities over Ethernet for each individual site


Requirements: 
• Detailed working knowledge of microwave link design , working knowledge of the Siae AL and TN radios for Ethernet usage 
• Working knowledge of Ethernet within WAN and MAN networks 
• Broad technical appreciation of Nortel and Alcatel Transmission, ATM and Ethernet technologies and their applications in a mobile operator environment 
• Appreciation of the importance of change management in an Operational Environment 
• Knowledge of Ethernet , ATM , SDH and PDH transmission technologies 
• Ability to lead, direct and devise tactical alternatives to problems 
• Be able to reconcile diverse requirements and gain consensus 
• Should be able to take ownership and undertake critical service decisions under considerable operational pressures 
• Strong team player 
• Strong communication, interpersonal and management skills 
• Academic Background 
• HNC/HND 
• Appropriate industry standard Telecommunication qualification in Access and ATM
