First 3D phone launched from Indian's Spice Mobile

Spice Mobile released the first phone with a 3D screen, for less than $100 (4,229 INR). The Indian company beats larger phone manufacturers though there doesn't seem to be as much call for a 3D handset as there does for other 3D devices. There were whispers earlier in the year about a 3D phone from Sharp but little has been heard about it since. While its not going to blow anyone away with its list of specs it is certainly cheap enough to at least try out and see if a 3D phone is really worth it, or it would be if it was available in the US.
The M-67 3D's main feature is its auto-stereoscopic display which doesn't require glasses and has a shortcut button allowing the user to switch quickly between 2D and 3D. The main 3D applications are a movie viewer, picture viewer and its user interface. The 3D display is fairly small though measuring 2.4" and with a 240x320 resolution. It can also take 2 GSM SIM cards allowing users to manage both work and their personal life from the same device.
Currently the most highly anticipated mobile 3D device is Nintendo's 3DS console, which of course is mainly focused on games. While early reports have been good for the gaming console it's hard to see what the advantages of having regular phone applications, especially on a feature phone, rendered in 3D are.
The M-67 3D is only available in India at the moment and is a good indication of what's to come. It is said that Sharp's offering will feature a 3D camera, time will tell if 3D phones make it past the gimmick stage for the technology to become a useful addition to a handset.
