Ericsson to deploy 4G in Israel's Partner Communications networks

Israeli telecoms company Partner Communications Company Ltd today announced that it has signed an agreement with LM Ericsson Israel Ltd (Ericsson) for the upgrade of its existing networks and the deployment of a fourth generation network in Israel.
The agreement covers the upgrade, replacement and expansion of parts of Partner̢۪s existing cellular and fixed line network and the maintenance of those networks. It also includes enhancing Partner̢۪s capabilities with respect to the ISP services it provides over those networks.

Commercial operation of the fourth generation network will be subject to the allocation of the relevant spectrum by the Israeli Ministry of Communications.

The cost of the fixed assets that will be replaced is USD40m, excluding accumulated depreciation. The agreement with Ericsson, which runs until the end of December 2014, will cost Partner around USD100m per quarter for the capital expenditure and maintenance services.
