This year, Nokia Siemens Networks' partnerships with Eötvös Loránd University and Budapest Technical University the best in R&D cooperation by ITD Hungary. The company employs more than 100 trainees a year in its R&D center in Budapest.
Besides the two universities mentioned above, Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) has partnership programs with further nine higher education institutions and the Cluj-Napoca University of Romania. In December 2010, the universities of Sarajevo, Banja Luka and USA's Illinois University joined the partnering list for professional trainings.
There are about 200 students finishing their master's degree at ELTE's IT faculty and about another 400-450 at BME, and the best of them always have several job offers from different companies, the representatives of the universities told the BBJ.
Within the trainee program, students can participate in actual R&D projects in the Budapest innovation center through one or two semesters and 3-5 working days a week. The center employes 850 and another 100 engineers have been recently hired for the new GSM-R competence center, established this year at NSN.
"Practical trainings are a great experience and an opportunity for self-development," said Péter Gyenes, responsible for R&D business relations at NSN, adding that it is also a great opportunity for the company as they are filling 80% of the open positions with trainees that have already proved their talents.
