Main Responsibilities
· Handle all maintenance responsibilities of the 3G RAN in Huawei network, including monitoring, troubleshooting and maintenance of the RNC & NodeB.
· Technical support for the RNC/NodeB which include routine O&M (both preventative & corrective)
· To provide competence transfer on RNC/NodeB O&M to the local engineers (on the job training).
· Correct RNC/NodeB faults and performance degradations in the network
· Responsible for the development and implementation of Operations & Maintenance processes.
· Function verification in accordance with the maintenance documentation of the network element
Troubleshooting on a network element and its interfaces
· Diagnostics on interfaces to locate problems in network elements and/or plug-in units
Failure reporting & escalation, if needed.
· Software acceptance and upgrades
· Handling of un-expected system performance/functionality issues
· RNC internal parameter audit
· Software audits on RNC and NodeBs
· Configuration and upgrades on 3G if needed Carryout network analysis (trace and investigations) and reporting as may be directed by the line manager
Required Competencies and Skills
· Excellent experience and sound knowledge of Huawei UMTS Network specifications and architectures. Technical skills on RNC (BSC6810), NodeB (DBS 3900), M2000 O&M and Transport Network. NBAP, RANAP, RNASP (UTRAN);
· Knowledge of HSPA+ functionality and implementation, ATM/IMA knowledge and implementation, Knows 3G signaling processing.
· Familiarity with 3GPP standards and releases
· Technical support for the RNC/BSC which include routine RNC/BSC O&M (both preventative & corrective) and troubleshooting.
Education or Other Requirements
· BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications or equivalent. Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in Huawei UMTS/WCDMA.
