Network operators in India to restrict number of SMSes per day

According to telecomtalk, in place of that, the operators are introducing a maximum number of 100 SMS per day plan, following the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India's (TRAI) regulation from 27th September 2011.
TRAI has set September 27 as the date for implementation of the Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference (Sixth Amendment) Regulations.
TRAI said “every Access Provider (Telecom/Mobile Operators) shall withdraw before the 26th September, 2011 all telecom resources allocated to a telemarketer except those telecom resources which have been allocated in accordance with the provisions of the regulations.”
TRAI’s latest regulation has also clearly mentioned that all SMS packs providing more than 100 SMS each day will not be renewed from the notified date.
It is likely that all network operators, who are presently providing more than 100 SMS per day packs will withdraw these packs, and introduce new packs with the limit of 100 SMS per day or 3000 SMS per month packs.
