Ericsson is cutting its workforce
in North America from its total workforce of more than 14,000 people.
Ericsson profit
dropped of more than 50% in 4Q profits due to slowdown
in operator spending during the second half of last year.
The layoffs will be less than 10
percent of its total employees. The Kansas City
Star said Ericsson would cut 130 jobs in the Kansas City area, Sprint's home
state, but Ericsson said that the
layoffs would not affect Ericsson's ability to operate Sprint's
network.
